{"id":299,"date":"2012-08-22T12:59:02","date_gmt":"2012-08-22T10:59:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.3dgis.it\/?p=299"},"modified":"2015-10-09T12:16:14","modified_gmt":"2015-10-09T10:16:14","slug":"anuga-progetto-open-source-per-la-modellazione-idraulica-e-idrodinamica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.3dgis.it\/en\/anuga-progetto-open-source-per-la-modellazione-idraulica-e-idrodinamica\/","title":{"rendered":"ANUGA: open source hydrodynamic and hydraulic modelling project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ANUGA is a Free and Open Source Software<\/strong> (FOSS) package capable of modelling the impact of hydrological disasters such as dam breaks, riverine flooding, storm-surge or tsunamis.<\/p>\n<p>Our Earth has given us more severe weather than in the past and GIS has assumed a important role in <em>disaster management and forecasting<\/em>.\u00a0At <strong>3DGIS<\/strong> we want to help people with our technology and projects like ANUGA help us to keep the focus on helping population hit by environment\u00a0disasters.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"ANUGA hydrodynamic modeling\" src=\"\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/anuga-disaster-forecast.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"678\" height=\"422\" \/><\/p>\n<p>ANUGA is based on the Shallow Water Wave Equation discretised to unstructured triangular meshes using a finite-volumes numerical scheme. A major capability of ANUGA is that it can model the process of wetting and drying as water enters and leaves an area. This means that it is suitable for simulating water flow onto a beach or dry land and around structures such as buildings.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"ANUGA download\" href=\"http:\/\/anuga.anu.edu.au\/\">ANUGA<\/a>\u00a0is also capable of modelling difficult flows involving shock waves and rapidly changing flow speed regimes (transitions from sub critical to super critical flows).<\/p>\n<p>The project is developed by the <strong>Australian National University<\/strong> (ANU) and <strong>Geoscience Australia<\/strong> (GA) &#8211; hence the name.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANUGA is a Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) package capable of modelling the impact of hydrological disasters such as dam breaks, riverine flooding, storm-surge or tsunamis.
