Cityvu enables 3D support in utility network WebGISes

Utility networks visualization is usually done from the top. This is not the optimal situation to evaluate depth and overlays. We always need more information about data spatiality and it becomes an hard constraint when talking about underground, with conducts, pipes and sinks.

Our cities are somewhat violated by stratified underground networks and every maintenance service must be accurately evaluated. 3DGIS has built Reti solution to overcome this: a management WebGIS for utility underground networks.

An advanced software allow to easily work on complex networks but doesn’t solve the stratification problem. In 2008 Cityvu innovated online 3D geospatial data, allowing CityGML in browser without plugins, and now, in 2012, our R&D department has improved the project to enable native 3D support to 3DGIS products.

First application of new Cityvu is 3D visualization and querying of underground infrastructure networks. The project has been announced at Geospatial World Forum (Amsterdam, April 2012) and it got positive feedbacks from public companies and government agencies.

Our aim is to improve spatial management. We keep innovating: it’s our job.
